Joy Bangla staged a protest against Darjeeling MP Raju Bista for raising the demand of Gorkhaland in the Parliament. An organization named "Joy Bangla" protested yesterday at Safdar Hasmi Chowk, Venus More Siliguri
On Saturday, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista had placed demand for Permanent Political Solution in the Lok Sabha. Joy Bangla in response, started burning effigy of MP Raju Bista in the streets of Siliguri in protest.
Gorkhaland is a century old demand of the Gorkhas, and has been a pertaining issues of the people from Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars who want separation from West Bengal. The movement is spearheaded by GJMM1 leader Bimal Gurung who is in an exile since the 2017 agitation in the Hills.
Joy Bangla who protested against Raju Bista for raising the demand in Lok Sabha and were also crying out loud, "Gorkhaland hobena", meaning "Gorkhaland is not possible," while burning his effigy.
Meanwhile in the Hills the GJMM2 headed by Anit Thapa has placed development goal over statehood movement and is carrying out various development programmes in the Hills since 2017.
